Ah...summer has begun!

I have been doing well at keeping our weekends as a family, fun.  Although, there hasn't been as much family goings on with George included because he is still in hardcore training for his triathalon (next weekend)!
This weekend, we did lots of fun girly stuff.

Like...feeding the ducks and geese...

Well, the other people in the picture were feeding the ducks and geese...P. decided she needed to have a snack herself. Bottomless pit even eats stale bread!

That was my cue that we needed to move along and get our picnic started at the splashpad. We ate and played with friends; who I am scoping out to be future babysitters - Hee hee!  It was fun!

P. really liked the splashpad, which surprised and pleased me-great free daytime activity in the summer!

Another free and fun activity we gonged it up at was the pool on Sunday. Grandma and Grandpa love having P. over.  And P. loves the pool!

"Look Mommy, I am totally accessorized!"

My baby runs at me and jumps in the pool. No fear, I tell ya. This makes me happy, but I secretly kinda wish she was more leary of the water. I can't even turn my back on her for a second.

She is going through this weird "I need my mommy all the time" phase and will only go to me in the pool. This is a tad annoying for others (especially Daddy and Grandmas...), but secretly, I like to feel loved and needed by her and am soaking up every moment of it because I know this phase is short lived.

There is something about babies in water that makes me want to squeeze them. I really have to make an effort not to squeeze too tightly...I also have to make an effort not to zerbert, kiss or nibble at her too much.  It is so difficult because she is soooo frigging cute and her arms and legs are so chubby and juicy!

Honestly, there are no words for the cuteness here...

Still Organizing

Here are some pics of my newly organized and edited makeup drawer. Did you know that most cosmetics only last 6-12 months from the time you open them.
You should always check before using, especially if you have had products for a long time and they go around your eyes or anything. Yikes. You could get severe infections or a stye or something. Gross!

Here is the Before...I had a tonne of crap

And Here is the After...less crap and more organized.

My goal is to now be able to do my makeup in under 5 min before work. I think organization just might get me there: )

Spring Cleaning

Spring has sprung, and my house is a gong.
I am so unorganized and feel like I need to spend an entire weekend organizing to get my place functioning at its' full potential.

So, I decided, enough whining about it, do something.

Here is what small, but attainable goals I have set out for myself.

1) Tidy jewelry drawer, underwear drawer, makeup drawer and summer drawer
2) Clean out the hall closet of all winter footwear
3) Tidy and organize guestroom/study
4) Clean out Phoebe's drawers and bookshelf of seasonal items and organize her summer clothes
5) Organize the storage closet in the den

Okay, so this is a big list, but I am giving myself till mid June to do it.
I am going to attempt to do one thing each night while watching T.V.-shouldn't be too difficult, right?
I started off on the right foot tonight.
Here is my jewelry drawer all nicely organized. I even found some stuff that I haven't worn in ages because I couldn't find it: ) This organization thing may save me some $$ in replacing items as well.

Check it out.

I know, I am a tad obsessed with costume jewelry. This drawer doesn't even have any of my necklaces in it...that is next to come!

The organizers can be found at Ikea. They are the Anordna series..but the left side with the felt is discontinued, which kinda sucks (it was so great for delicate silver and gold pieces..). The other ones work great, though. They are also wonderful for your bathroom makeup and products.

If you need motivation and techniques to help you organize...check out the following blog. I have gotten some great ideas from it.

I will post more of my results when they are accomplished.

Look-a-likes?

Today started off kind of rough, but I am happy now.
I have been hearing for over a year now (since the 3D ultrasound I had at 28 weeks preggers), that P. looks like her Daddy.
I maintain that there is nothing wrong with looking like her dad. I, in fact, think he is pretty cute: )
But...there is always this underlying hope that one day, your daughter will inherite more from you than her temprament; which, by the way, is not always a good thing.

I heard various times today that P. looks a "bit" like me in the following picture. "GRIN": )

Of course, I am curious. What is it that makes her look like me? The silly smirky grin, or the fact that she is eating?

Gongin it at Grandma and Grandpas

Last night P. went to Grandma and Grandpa's for a sleepover.

This allowed us to go out with some good friends for dinner and drinks (and to have too many drinks) and for us to sleep in in the am and be hungover!

This is only the second time that P. has been overnight without us and of course, she had an AMAZING time.
Here are a few texts of reassurance that we received throughout the night.

After the afternoon nap
          "fyi, PJ woke up happy!!!"

At dinner
"PJ is having watermelon and asked for more in baby sign, LOL"

"Bath time was a hoot she had a blast with both grandmas. GM is so excited!"

Bed time
"she was so tired from playing that bedtime was no fuss, no tears, just straight to bed with a smile"
"she knows she is the star of the show and entertained us all night"

One more detail...our little monkey slept thru the night and slept in till 8am today at Grandmas and Grandpas. Lucky them!

Blog Ambition turns to Blog Anxiety

In true gongshowmommy fashion, I jumped into this blogging thing head first! Hardcore from the beginning, not really thinking about the reprecussions or reality of what blogging is.

Last night I woke up at 4am, and couldn't get back to sleep because I was overwhelmed with anxiety about my blog.

What was I thinking putting all my personal thoughts, pictures and information out there? what was I thinking posting it on FB for friends, and not real friends to see? Do people really care about me and what is up with mommyhood in our house and what I have to say, or are they just nosey?

I am working to see if there is a way to make this more private - so I can set people up with passwords to look at it. I am also reflecting on what I want to put in my blog, and what I want to say; and if I am going to continue to say anything at all...

I took a "ME" day

I took today as a vacation day and I still sent P. to daycare.
I didn't really have any thing "special" planned for today but made a pact with myself that I would only do things that I wanted to do. I wouldn't get off track and shop for P. or Geo or log into my work email.

I have been though this exercise many times before...taking a day off work and not having a plan of what I wanted to do. I ended up not doing anything and feeling like it was a waste of a vacation day,  so this time, I decided I would pull out my Post-it Notes and make a list of all the things I would like to accomplish today.

  1. sleep in    : (
  2. work out at the gym : )
  3. get a massage- and sleep during it instead of talk : )
  4. spray tan : )
  5. get quote on awning for outside : )
  6. go to Chapters : )
  7. get a Starbucks skinny vanilla Latte : )
  8. drinks on a patio : )

Legend:
: ) = done
: ( = not done

I did pretty well...accomplishing 7/8 of my day's goals.  If I hadn't made a list, I would have probably scored 1/8, so this is amazing!

Oh, and Phoebe pooped on the toilet 2x...so even though that isn't in our days "goals" per se, it was a big accomplishment.

Doesn't she look proud? I am proud of her: )

The "Preggers'"

I am so lucky to have so many amazing friends. Many of whom are currently, what I affectionately call, "PREGGERS". I am that creepy chick who has to touch their bellies every time I see them and has to say in my annoying baby voice "hi baby". This is especially frequent once their bellies get to that ripe round stage where it is blatantly obvious that they are preggers.

I have to say...pregnant women are soooo beautiful. Okay, not every pregnant person is (let's be honest) but most are!
Fortunately, all my friends have all been beautiful pregnant! There is something about their skin-it definitely glows...and that hair...it is so thick and voluminous.
It is also their attitudes that are beautiful. Everyone I know has taken such great care of themselves while pregnant. They eat better, sleep more, and just don't let every day stresses get to them. I dunno, they just exude beauty.

I don't want anyone to get any ideas, though. I am NOT and will NOT be getting preggers myself any time soon. I just can't even go there right now...
Although...thinking back to it, I was probably the most laid back, calm and confident during my pregnancy (except at the end when I couldn't function because my anxiety and blood pressure were so high...and when I was sick for the first 18 weeks...YIKES)

There is something about being pregnant. You have free reign to eat WHATEVER you want and however MUCH you want. It is wonderful. I felt the most confident about my body in my whole life when I was pregnant.
Odd.
I was tipping the scales at a weight I had NEVER been to in my life...yet had the confidence to pose for this!!

A friend of mine posted this blog link today. I have reflected a lot on what was said. It was a very relevant article to me and many others in my life.

Sunday-our "NON-day of rest"

Today was equally as busy as yesterday. Phoebe was a very lucky lady because she got to see 2 sets of Grandparents. Nan and Pop in the morning, and Yia Yia and Steve in the afternoon. Life is good for this little baby! Here are some pics from our visit.

A "FUN" Spring Saturday!

Today was a fun Saturday. I have made it my goal as a mom, to have "fun" every weekend we spend as a family.
George had plans to train for his triathalon...(only 22 more sleeps!) so Phoebe and I were on our own today. Even though "Mr. Fun" wasn't with us, we found plenty of "fun" things to do.
This morning, Phoebe decided she would sleep in till 9am (what child does that? especially a child that goes to bed at 6:30...?) Because of her late start to the day, she was granted a free pass on her morning nap. This NEVER happens!
As a result, we were able to hook up with Lyndsey and Haley and the twins for a morning playdate. I miss them soo much and don't get to see them as much as I would like.
Lyndsey looks fabulous and is doing an amazing job as a mommy of 3. She now has one gorgeous and very well behaved 3yr old girl (who, by the way, I hope Phoebe learns her manners from!) and beautiful newborn baby girl and boy.
I am so ticked that I didn't bring my camera because the GONG SHOW we left there was worth documenting.
We can't go anywhere without leaving in a whirlwind and that is what happened today. Phoebe is infamous for having a short shelf life for most things...the toys she plays with, her "wake time", and time in between meals. Even though snacks were plentiful (and of course all organic-we were, indeed, at Lyndsey's!), Phoebe suddenly got hungry and then the Gong Show ensued. She immediately started crying, yelling, and of course "back arching" -this was the prelude to her spilling a whole Ziploc bag of dehydrated organic fruit and puffs all over the floor. Lyndsey's house, for those of you who know her, is immaculate, despite being the most busy mom I know. So, you can imagine my mortification at the mess created by my screaming, hungry child on my way out the door. In true "Lyndsey" fashion, I was shooed out the door without having to clean up our mess, and in true"Meghan" fashion, I have felt guilty about it since.

Post afternoon nap, we were able to get out with Stella for a nice little walk. I decided that I would make it "fun" and go somewhere new, so we drove over to another friend's neighbourhood to visit the infamous "frog pond" This pond is situated next to a river where there are plenty of ducks and geese for Phoebe to wave and point at while shouting repeatedly "DUCK!!" Duck, was her first real word...Fortunately the ducks were plentiful, but unfortunately, there were not babies and the frogs are still tadpoles. Even though I stepped in goose poop, parked in the wrong spot and was way overdressed and sweaty, we had "fun".

We also had fun at dinner time with Phoebe and her soup and spoon. Oh, how times have changed and how the little things fascinate me and make me proud: ) She has started making this weird noise-it is kind of like a laugh-or a cackle. At any rate, it is weird and I don't know how to classify it. It is pretty amusing.

Now George and I are going to sit down, eat our McFlurry's and watch a movie.
